Transfer Station: Bates Trail, West Greenwich. Transfer Station Hours: Sat.-Sun. 8-4. Open Wednesdays, 4pm-8pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Transfer station permit stickers are available at the Town Clerk’s office and at the transfer station (proof of residency and registration required); you must have a permit to utilize the transfer station. Permits are $100.00 for 2 years (7/1/23-6/30/25); Residents only; No commercial haulers/waste; Complete details here

Appliances (large/white goods): Drop off at the Transfer Station, free of charge. Items include stoves, washers, dryers, microwaves, small appliances. Put in scrap metal bin.

Appliances (w/ Freon): Drop off at the Transfer Station, for a fee: $10 for dehumidifiers; $20 for air conditioners and refrigerators.

Auto Batteries: Drop off at the Transfer Station.

Bulky Rigid Plastic: Drop off at the Transfer Station, free of charge. Includes carts, crates, buckets, baskets, toys, lawn furniture, flower pots. DOES NOT include PVC pipe, hoses, plastic bags or bottles.

Bulky Waste: Drop off at the Transfer Station for a fee of $10.00/$15.00/$25.00, depending upon estimated weight and volume. NO commercial waste.

Carpeting/Rugs: Drop off at the Transfer Station. Depending upon volume, bulky waste fees may be applicable.

Christmas Trees: Drop off at the Transfer Station during the month of January.

Clothing/Textiles: Drop off at the Transfer Station or Town Hall into the Big Brothers Big Sisters of RI clothing bins.

Construction & Demolition Debris: Drop off at the Transfer Station for a fee: $15 for small loads 1/4-3/4 ton; $25 for large loads 3/4 ton or greater.

Extra Recycling: Drop off at the Transfer Station, free of charge.

E-waste: Drop off at the Transfer Station, free of charge. Includes items such as computers, laptops, monitors, tv's routers, cellphones, keyboards, toner cartridges, CD/DVD players, telephones, home printers, stereos, wires.

Furniture: Drop off at the Transfer Station for a fee of $10.00/$15.00/$25.00, depending upon estimated weight and volume. NO commercial waste.

Leaf & Yard Waste: Drop off at the Transfer Station, free of charge. Includes yard waste in paper bags and brush less than 1/2" in diameter.

Mattresses & Box Springs: Drop off recyclable mattresses/box springs at the Transfer Station, free of charge. There is a fee of $50 per unit for non-recyclable mattresses (wet, mangled, excessively dirty, infested with bed bugs).

Motor Oil & Filters: Drop off at the Transfer Station, free of charge. See attendant for directions.

Paper for Shredding: Free paper shredding at periodic town events, typically held in August, call Town Hall for updates.

Propane Tanks: Drop off at the Transfer Station for a fee: $5 for 25 lb. tanks; $10 for 100 lb tanks. Propane tanks must be empty prior to drop off.

Scrap Metal: Drop off at the Transfer Station, free of charge. Put in scrap metal bin.

Small Appliances (no Freon): Typically electric items with a cord, if made primarily out of metal, can be dropped off with scrap metal

Tires: Drop off at the Transfer Station for a fee: $4 for car tires without rim; $7 for car tires with rim; $20 for truck tires without rim; $25 for truck tires with rim.
