Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station (RHRTS): 163 Rose Hill Road, Wakefield. Mon.-Sat., 7am- 3pm (401-783-4554). Narragansett residents can utilize the RHRTS by purchasing tags for each bag of trash, up to 33-gallons/35 lbs each, for $2.35 per tag. Tags are sold in sheets of five (5). Recycling is free. Appliances (large/white goods): Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station for a fee of $6.40 each. Assessed at $0.0775/lb. in addition to the commodity charge if commingled in a mixed load.

Appliances (w/ Freon): Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station for a fee of $19.25 each. Includes: refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, etc. Assessed at $0.0775/lb. in addition to the commodity charge if commingled in a mixed load.

Auto Batteries: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station for a fee of $2 each. Assessed at $0.0775/lb. in addition to the commodity charge if commingled in a mixed load.

Books: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station into the book exchange shed.

Bulky Rigid Plastic: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station.

Bulky Waste: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station for a fee of $0.0775/lb. or $5.00 minimum for residents of South Kingstown and Narragansett. The minimum charge for non-residents is $25. Single bulky items weighing 35 pounds or less may be disposed of with a tag.

Carpeting/Rugs: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station for a fee of $0.0775/lb. or $5.00 minimum.

Christmas Trees: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station in December and January.

Clothing/Textiles: Drop off into the Big Brothers Big Sisters of RI clothing bin at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station or around town for Planet Aid (Seaport Communications, 304 Point Judith Road), St. Vincent DePaul and Goodwill (Narragansett Community Center, 53 Mumford Road) or Big Brothers Big Sisters of RI (Narragansett Parks & Recreation, 170 Clarke Road). These items can also be dropped off at town recycling events in the spring and fall (usually in conjunction with Gansett Days in September). Construction & Demolition Debris: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station for a fee of $0.0775/lb. or $5.00 minimum.

E-waste: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station, for computers, laptops, printers, scanners, spare computer parts, cables and wires, radios, routers, cell phones and telephones, televisions, monitors. Prohibited items include appliances, batteries and fluorescent light bulbs. For additional information or to find out what is considered electronic waste, contact the Recycling Coordinator. These items can also be dropped off at town recycling events in the spring and fall (usually in conjunction with Gansett Days in September). Extra Recycling: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station.

Furniture: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station for a fee of $0.0775/lb. or $5.00 minimum for residents of South Kingstown and Narragansett. The minimum charge for non-residents is $25. Single bulky items weighing 35 pounds or less may be disposed of with a tag. 

Leaf & Yard Waste: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station for a fee of $1.25 per Yard Waste Tag. Includes leaves and grass clippings in brown paper yard waste bags. No plastic bags. Yard Waste Tags can be purchased at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station or at South Kingstown Town Hall for $1.25. Large brush, bulk quantities of leaves, tree limbs and trunks less than 6” in diameter may be discharged at a rate of $0.035 ($5.00 minimum). No branches over 6” in diameter. No branches longer than 4 feet in length.

Mattresses & Box Springs: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station, free of charge, for recyclable units. There is a fee of $85 per unit for non-recyclable units (wet, mangled, excessively dirty, infested with bed bugs).

Motor Oil & Filters: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station, for South Kingstown and Narragansett residents ONLY for a fee of $7.00 for up to 5 gallons and 4 filters.

Paper for Shredding: Free paper shredding at town recycling events in the spring and fall (usually in conjunction with Gansett Days in September). For additional information, contact the Recycling Coordinator.

Propane Tanks: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station for a fee. The valve must be removed prior to drop off. Propane tanks 25 lbs. or less are $5.00; 25 - 100 lbs. are $20.00. Assessed at $0.0775/lb. in addition to the commodity charge if commingled in a mixed load.

Scrap Metal: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station, free of charge for small items containing 90% metal or greater. Prohibited items include appliances and gas tanks. Please see the RHRTS website for a list of additional prohibited items.

Small Appliances (no Freon): Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station. Depending on the makeup and size of the item, it may be assessed as an appliance (such as a microwave), scrap metal (such as a toaster oven), bulky waste or trash (such as a hair dryer made out of plastic). Call the Recycling Coordinator or see the transfer station attendant for assistance.

Tires: Drop off at the Rose Hill Regional Transfer Station for a fee: $8 (up to 18" diameter, no rim), $14 (>19" diameter, no rim), $10.25 (car tires on rim). Assessed at $0.0775/lb. in addition to the commodity charge if commingled in a mixed load.
