Transfer Station: 
122 Amy Hart Path, Little Compton. Monday 10am-6pm; Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday 8am-4pm; closed on Wednesday & Sunday. Holidays: If the Transfer Station is closed due to a holiday, the hours of operation for the day following the holiday shall be the same as the day on which the holiday falls, except if the holiday falls on a Saturday. Permits/stickers are required for vehicle access and coupons must be purchased ahead of time for the disposal of certain items – see the Town Clerk’s Office below for complete details. Town Clerk’s Office: 40 Commons, Little Compton. Hours: Mon.-Fri., 8-4. Here, you can purchase coupons for the disposal of construction debris, appliances with Freon, mattresses and box springs (those not accepted for recycling), and tires, as well as purchase Transfer Station stickers/permits for various fees, with proof of residency and vehicle registration.

Appliances (large/white goods): Drop off at the Transfer Station.

Appliances (w/ Freon): Drop off at the Transfer Station for a fee of $25. Includes items that contain(ed) refrigerant: air conditioners, dehumidifiers, freezers or similar appliances. Must purchase coupon for disposal at the Town Clerk’s office ahead of time.

Batteries: Drop off at Call2Recycle box at Town Hall (rechargeable and alkaline/single use).

Bulky Waste: Drop off at the Transfer Station, depending on the item and size, may go in construction container. See attendant for more information.

Carpeting/Rugs: Drop off at the Transfer Station, depending on the item and size, may go in construction container. See attendant for more information.

Christmas Trees: Drop off at the Transfer Station in December and January.

Clothing/Textiles: Drop off at the Transfer Station into the donation boxes for Big Brothers Big Sisters of RI.

Construction & Demolition Debris: Drop off at the Transfer Station only for debris as a result of work done by the home owner. $75 per load if under 10,000 lbs GVW; Must purchase a coupon ahead of time at the Town Clerk’s office. Note: as of January 1, 2022, debris from contractors is no longer accepted.

E-waste: Drop off at the Transfer Station including computers, televisions, monitors, laptops, printers, scanners, spare computer parts, cables and wires, radios, routers, cell phones and telephones. 

Extra Recycling: Drop off at the Transfer Station.

Furniture: Drop off at the Transfer Station. Depending on the item and size, may go in construction container. See attendant for more information.

Leaf & Yard Waste: Drop off at the Transfer Station.

Mattresses & Box Springs: Drop off at the Transfer Station, free of charge. Fees apply to mattresses and box springs that don't fit the criteria for recycling, contact the Town Clerk’s office for details.

Motor Oil & Filters: Drop off at the Transfer Station. No other fluids are accepted.

Paint: Drop off at the Transfer Station.

Propane Tanks: Drop off at the Transfer Station. Propane tanks must be cut in half and the valve must be removed prior to dropping off and placed in the scrap metal container.

Scrap Metal: Drop off at the Transfer Station.

Small Appliances (no Freon): Typically electric items with a cord, if made primarily out of metal, can be dropped off with scrap metal

Tires: Drop off at the Transfer Station for a fee, beginning at $5 per car tire without the rim. For tires on the rim or larger tires, contact the Town Clerk’s office. Must purchase a coupon ahead of time at the Town Clerk’s office.
